Sunflower Hearts are probably the most loved seed you can feed your wild garden birds. In fact here at UK's Cheapest we'd suggest you only feed them Sunflower Hearts. Bird Food companies will say you need to feed a range of bird seeds and foods to attract different birds, but that's just not true. In fact we've had a lot of luck feeding just Sunflower Hearts to birds in our writers gardens.
Sunflower Hearts are rich in protein and calories, providing a good balanced nutrition all year round for birds.
What's more, by only feeding one type of seed to your birds, you keep the cost down and make storage so much easier. Unfortunately there are no decent bird food subscription services, so you'll need to remember to order it yourself. We'd be surprised if one of the bird food companies doesn't add one soon. We'll update this page when they do.
Sunflower Hearts are the heart of the Sunflower Seed. You've probably seen Black Sunflower Seeds offered on most bird food websites - that black bit is the seed and inside you'll find the heart. Black Sunflower Seeds are usually cheaper, but most birds will break open and discard the outer husk, which means sunflower hearts represent better value for money. They're less mess too 👍.
